Companies House: New Requirements for Directors

If you are a director or PSC of a UK company, this change will apply to you.

🔍 What You Need to Know

✔️ Identity Verification Becomes Mandatory – 18 November 2025

• All directors and PSCs must verify their identity.
• You will not be able to file your company's confirmation statement after this date unless all directors are verified.
• This applies to all UK companies and directors, including those based outside the UK.

✔️ Directors: Deadline Is Your Next Confirmation Statement Date

• You’ll need to complete identity verification before your next confirmation statement is due (after 18 November 2025).
• For example, if your statement is due on 31 March 2026, all directors must be verified by that date.

You can verify your identity in one of two ways:

1. Online via GOV.UK One Login
   • This is the quickest and easiest method.
   • You’ll receive a personal code from Companies House after successful verification.
   • This code must then be linked to each company you are a director or PSC of.
2. Via an Authorised Corporate Service Provider (ACSP)

• Check your company’s next confirmation statement due date.
• Ensure your personal details (especially your date of birth) match what’s on the Companies House register.
• Decide how you’ll verify your identity – either via GOV.UK or through Bright Beany Accounting
• If you’re a director of multiple companies, you only need to verify your identity once, but your personal code will need to be used for all companies.

We recommend verifying now, to avoid any last-minute issues. This is particularly important for:

• Companies with multiple directors or PSCs
• Directors/PSCs based outside the UK
• Businesses with confirmation statement deadlines early in 2026
