Board reporting and management accounts
Numbers you can trust, every month
Management accounts are only useful if they arrive on time, you trust them and they tell you what to do next. Too often they arrive weeks late, show a profit figure nobody believes and don't explain why anything changed.
We produce board-level reporting every month: accurate numbers, the KPIs that match how your business makes money, and a short commentary on what changed and what we'd look at next.
What a good board pack includes
Profit and loss against budget and last year, with the reasons for the big movements
Balance sheet and cash position, with a rolling cash forecast
Margin by client, project, product or location, depending on how you make money
KPIs agreed with you, such as utilisation, recurring revenue, debtor days or average order value
A one-page summary of what the numbers mean and the decisions ahead
Actions from last month, so nothing gets lost
Example KPIs by business type
- Agencies and professional services: utilisation, revenue per head, margin by client, work in progress
- Tech and digital platforms: monthly recurring revenue, churn, customer acquisition cost, cash runway
- Manufacturing and construction: gross margin by job, retentions, stock days, cash tied up in work in progress
Reporting built on a clean month-end
Board reporting is part of our full Virtual Finance Department. The same team does the bookkeeping and month-end, so the numbers are right before they reach the pack. VFD Lite clients get the same reporting quarterly.
A pack you can take to the board, the bank or investors
We keep the format consistent month to month, so trends are easy to spot and your board, lenders or investors see a business that is well run.
